Saint Patrick of Ireland
The Saint Patrick of Ireland Scholarship was established in 2016 and is the result of donations given to the Chahta Foundation by Allison and Gerald Mulvey. This scholarship was established to commemorate the Choctaw Nation’s outreach to the starving people of Ireland in 1847. The Irish descendants around the world, the “wild geese”, remember and thank the Choctaw people for their generosity. This competitive scholarship is to be awarded to Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma students who are graduating high school within the 10.5 counties of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and are enrolled in mathematics, science, or engineering degree programs. The Saint Patrick of Ireland Scholarship is a $2,000, $1,500, and $500 scholarship for first, second and third place respectively. This scholarship is awarded at $1,000, $750, and $250 per Fall and Spring semester while the recipient is attending an accredited institution. The scholarship will be paid directly to the accredited institution and covers qualified education expenses such as tuition, fees, and course-related expenses such as books, supplies, and equipment should the recipient meet the following requirements.
