The Second Chance Scholarship was established in 2015 and is the result of donations given to the Chahta Foundation by the Philip Wesley family. This competitive scholarship is to be awarded to Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma students who are either non-traditional students returning to school after five years or seeking a reverse transfer degree. The Second Chance Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded at $250 per Fall and Spring semester while the recipient is attending an accredited vocational/technical, 2-year program, or 4-year program institution. The scholarship will be paid directly to the accredited institution and covers qualified education expenses such as tuition, fees, and course-related expenses such as books, supplies, and equipment should the recipient meet the following requirements.

Applicant requirements

  • Non-traditional students who have been out of school for 5+ years
  • OR Reverse-transfer students moving forward in their education by transferring from a 4-year university to a 2-year college
  • Must maintain program eligibility
  • Current acceptance and enrollment in a 4-year program
