Smeltzer Family Chahta Anumpa

The Smeltzer Family Chahta Anumpa Scholarship was established in 2025 and is the result of donations given to the Chahta Foundation by Dave Smeltzer and the Smeltzer Family to honor the Choctaw language and support students who are committed to carrying our language forward for future generations. This competitive scholarship is to be awarded to Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma students who are undergraduate juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in education and minoring in Choctaw language. The Smeltzer Family Chahta Anumpa Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded at $500 per Fall and Spring semester while the recipient is attending an accredited institution. The scholarship will be paid directly to the accredited institution and covers qualified education expenses such as tuition, fees, and course-related expenses such as books, supplies, and equipment should the recipient meet the following requirements.
