How to review the 2024 Chahta Foundation Applications
Process
Using any browser, except internet explorer, please visit:
After you log in, you will see a list of your associated groups. You will see what percentage of applications you have completed and the number remaining. Select the group (example: High School, Undergraduate, Masters, Doctorate) to see your list of applications for consideration and scoring.
After selecting an application, begin to look through the provided information.
Once you have completed the review of all of your applications, or if you have any questions during the review process or about our scholarship program, please let us know!
2024 Scholarship Application Review FAQs
Academics and Ability |

• Grades and Classes | Outside of major, are the classes challenging or an easy grade? | ||
• Test Scores | ACT, SAT, etc. may be a better indicator than High School grades. | ||
• Rankings | Top 3 out of 400 students may hold more weight than top 3 of 16. | ||
• First Generation | Are they a first generation college student? | ||
• School | Why did they choose their school? Is there a less costly school that would work as well? | ||
• Degree Plan | Why did they choose their field of study? Does the applicant reflect a desire for the degree plan, or was it selected for personal gain, such as financial or family expectations. | ||
• Activities and Volunteering | What do they do outside of the classroom? How do they help others? This should be more than a hobby. | ||
• Community Involvement | How do they impact those around them? | ||
• Leadership | Where have they shown leadership potential? | ||
Short Answer |

• Quality | Is the application answered thoughtfully? Are there grammar mistakes? Are the short answers well developed? | ||
• Work History | Does the applicant have a work history? Is it connected to their degree plan? | ||
• Cultural Involvement | Do they participate in tribal activities or display an interest if they are unable to join? | ||
• Challenges | How do they impact their families? Do they have a disabled parent, a ward, are they a single mother, etc. | ||
• Responsibility | Does the applicant have a bad semester? Do they take blame, when appropriate, or put the fault on others or situations? | ||
• Supported Actions | If the applicant states that the household income is limited, but talks about spending time and money on extravagant hobbies. | ||

Here are some common scholarships and their requirements:
Program | Value | Threshold | Requirements |
Oklahoma’s Promise | College Tuition | $55,000 or below | • Must be an Oklahoma resident. • Must enroll in the 8th, 9th or 10th grade. • The parents’ federal adjusted gross income must not exceed $55K per year. |
Pell Grant | The maximum Federal Pell Grant award is $6,345 for the 2020–21 award year | Expected Family Contribution is at or below $5,140. Typically, Income $60,000 and below. |
• Be an undergraduate student who has not earned a bachelor’s degree (with some exceptions for students in post baccalaureate teaching programs) • Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student in an eligible degree or certificate program • Have earned a high school diploma or a GED or have completed a high school education in an approved home-school setting • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen |
Academic Scholars Program(Regents) | Full cost of tuition, books, fees room, and board | Not income based | • Oklahoma students can automatically qualify for the program by achieving designation as a National Merit Scholar, National Merit Finalist or United States Presidential Scholar or by scoring at or above the 99.5 percentile on the ACT or SAT. • For fall 2020, the ACT required score is a total sum score of the skill areas of 135. • For fall 2020, the SAT required score is a total sum score of the critical reading and math skill areas of 1540. • Public colleges and universities may also nominate students attending their institution for the program based on criteria established by each institution. |
We would like the subcommittee to finish review by May 7th in order to let applicants know of their scholarship status as soon as possible.
