Virginia Leflore Marshall*
The Virginia Leflore Marshall Scholarship was established in 2016 and is the result of donations given to the Chahta Foundation by Jon A. Marshall. This scholarship was created in memory of Mr. Marshall’s pokini (grandmother), Virginia Leflore Marshall, an original Choctaw enrollee. This competitive scholarship is to be awarded to Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) students who are pursuing professional degrees in one of the following disciplines: Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). The Virginia Leflore Marshall Scholarship is a $40,000 scholarship awarded at $12,500 per Fall and Spring semester and $3,000 per Summer semester while the recipient is attending an accredited institution. An additional $12,000 may be awarded as a living stipend to recipients who show a financial need as listed in Section III.C. of the guidelines.

*The recipient will have a payback requirement equivalent to one year of service, employment at the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, per $20,000 received. Relocation may be required.
