Trooper Nicholas Dees Memorial
The Trooper Nicholas Dees Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 and is the result of donations given to the Chahta Foundation in honor of Trooper Nicholas Dees. Trooper Dees lost his life while on duty to a driver who was texting. This scholarship is established in his memory to help fund future Oklahoma law enforcement. This competitive scholarship is to be awarded to Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma students who are accepted into or currently enrolled in a criminal justice-related degree plan and attending an accredited institution in the state of Oklahoma. The Trooper Nicholas Dees Memorial Scholarship is a $3,000 scholarship awarded at $1,500 per Fall and Spring semester while the recipient is attending an accredited 2-year program or 4-year program institution. The scholarship will be paid directly to the accredited institution and covers qualified education expenses such as tuition, fees, and course-related expenses such as books, supplies, and equipment should the recipient meet the following requirements.
Applicant requirements
- Student in the state of Oklahoma
- Enrolled as an undergraduate at a 4-year university
- Major in Criminal Justice or similar Law Enforcement program
- Must maintain program eligibility
