The Saint Bridget of Kildare Scholarship was established in 2020 and is the result of donations given to the Chahta Foundation by Allison and Gerald Mulvey. This scholarship was established to honor Saint Bridget of Kildare and commemorate the Choctaw Nation’s outreach to the starving people of Ireland in 1847. The Irish descendants around the world, the “wild geese”, remember and thank the Choctaw people for their generosity. This competitive scholarship is to be awarded to Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma students who are sophomores, juniors or seniors in a bachelor’s program and are majoring in mathematics, science, or engineering. The Saint Bridget of Kildare Scholarship is a $2,000, $1,500, and $500 scholarship for first, second and third place respectively. This scholarship is awarded at $1,000, $750, and $250 per Fall and Spring semester while the recipient is attending an accredited 4-year program institution. The scholarship will be paid directly to the accredited institution and covers qualified education expenses such as tuition, fees, and course-related expenses such as books, supplies, and equipment should the recipient meet the following requirements.
