Gary and Angie Batton Legal Heritage*
The Heritage – Legal Scholarship was established in 2016 and is the result of donations given to the Chahta Foundation by Gary and Angie Batton. This scholarship was created to provide aid to Choctaws who are willing to serve at the Choctaw Nation after completing their Juris Doctorate (J.D.) program. This competitive scholarship is to be awarded to Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) students who are accepted into or currently pursuing J.D. degrees. The Heritage – Legal Scholarship is a $20,000 scholarship awarded at $10,000 per Fall and Spring semester while the recipient is attending an accredited institution.
*the recipient will have a payback requirement equivalent to one year of service, employment at the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, per $20,000 received. Relocation may be required.
