Let’s Make a Memory This Christmas: Pictures with Santa

 In Blog, News

Remember those days? The excitement and anticipation as your turn came closer and closer to approach the man in red? Now it’s time to make those memories with your children or grandchildren that will last them a lifetime.

Step into the charming historical Chahta Foundation building on December 22, 2017, for complimentary photos with Santa. Inhale the warm scents of cider, hot cocoa, and spicy cinnamon as you enter the 114-year-old former schoolhouse. Come for either of the two sessions that Friday: 10-11:30 a.m. and 2-3:30 p.m.
Imagine this: a historical setting with a plush green armchair against a red brick wall, an enormous Christmas tree sparkling with red and white ornaments, and a fireplace.

Ready? Set? Smile!

While the kiddos wait for a turn in Santa’s lap, enjoy refreshments in the large conference room. Your children will find Christmas-themed coloring pages and crayons while they wait. There may even be a classic movie like “It’s a Wonderful Life” playing in the background. (Did that movie title conjure up another memory for you?)

In the conference room, take a few minutes to browse Choctaw art gracing the walls. If you explore a little further, you’ll find more pieces that tell stories of Choctaw life, history, and culture.

At last year’s event, we had around 50 families come and make a Christmas memory. Our Santa will be ready once again to delight children with hearing their hopes for the fast-approaching Christmas morning.

“It’s a lot of fun working with the kids and seeing how excited they are for Christmas,” said Scott Wesley, Chahta Foundation scholarship director.

A photo with Santa is one of those annual Christmas traditions for many families. Years from now, you can flip through these photos and watch your child grow up. Each one will capture a snapshot in time that can never be repeated.

We want you to have that opportunity without worrying about fighting crowds at the mall.
“We like to serve the Choctaw Nation employees,” Scott said. “We provide the service so they can bring their kids over for a picture and not worry about having to fight the lines or go through the mall.”

Bring your children out to the Chahta Foundation and let’s make a memory this Christmas.
