Gary and Angie Batton Generations
The Generations Scholarship was established in 2025 and is the result of donations given to the Chahta Foundation by Gary and Angie Batton to inspire future generations to explore and honor our past, carrying the knowledge and traditions of our ancestors forward into the future. This competitive scholarship is to be awarded to Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma students who have been accepted into or are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program in the fields of archeology, anthropology, history, geographic information systems, horticulture, or Native American studies. Applicants in a bachelor’s program must be a junior or senior. The Gary and Angie Batton Generations Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship awarded at $1,000 per Fall and Spring semester while the recipient is attending an accredited institution. Applicant requirements
- 2.5 GPA
- Preference for a CNO employee
- Undergraduate (Junior or Senior), or Master’s, or Doctoral degree programs in the following fields:
- Archeology
- Anthropology
- History
- Geographic Information Systems
- Horticulture
- Native American Studies
