OBU Announces Martin Scholar Full Tuition Scholarship – Oklahoma Baptist University recently announced the establishment of a full-tuition scholarship for students of Choctaw heritage. The Martin Scholar Full Tuition Scholarship award will be presented annually to a qualified incoming freshman and is renewable for eight semesters. OBU has previously awarded the LeRoy and Zula Martin Scholarship, which will continue along with the new Martin Scholar award. “With the establishment of this new scholarship, the university hopes to encourage more Choctaw students to consider Oklahoma Baptist University as a viable option for their college education,” Bruce Perkins, associate vice president for enrollment management, said. “Offering a full tuition scholarship each year will enrich the university’s relationship with the Choctaw Nation and its leaders and potentially create additional opportunities for future OBU students. We are grateful to the Martin family for making this a reality.” To compete for the Martin Scholar Full Tuition Scholarship, students must achieve at minimum a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA and a 25 ACT score or 1150 SAT score (Critical Reading and Math only). Candidates must be Choctaw with a degree of Choctaw blood recognized by the Choctaw Nation.
